Toughened Glass
Toughened glass, also known as tempered glass, is a type of safety glass that has been subjected to controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength and resistance to mechanical and thermal stress. This process results in compressive stress on the glass's surface, making it four times stronger than annealed glass and capable of withstanding surface compression of at least 10,000 pounds per square inch. When toughened glass breaks, it shatters into small, pebble-like pieces, which are less likely to cause injury than the sharp shards produced by annealed glass.
